Bengaluru bus conductor asks passenger not to stand on footboard, gets stabbed

Bengaluru, October 2, 2024: A 45-year-old bus conductor was injured after being stabbed by a person in Bengaluru when he asked him not to travel on the footboard of the bus on Tuesday, October 1.

The accused, identified as Harsh Sinha, a native of Jharkhand, was caught by passengers and handed over to the police while the injured conductor, identified as Yogesh, was admitted to a private hospital, where he is being treated.

The accused used to work at one of the call centres in Bengaluru and was discharged from his duties on September 20.

According to the police, the incident happened when the bus, belonging to Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), was near Whitefield police station on Tuesday evening.

The accused was arrested by the police after the incident under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) and further investigation was launched against him.

Earlier in April this year, a 35-year-old Bengaluru cab driver stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in public after she rejected his marriage proposal. The man then walked into a police station where he confessed to the crime. He was then arrested by the police.

The woman died due to stab injuries and her body was found by the police at the crime spot.
