Bharat Jodo Yatra not possible in bullet-proof car: Rahul Gandhi amid security breach row

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Dec 31, 2022: Amid the controversy over Rahul Gandhi’s security during the Delhi leg of Congress’s Bharat Jodo Yatra with the party blaming the Delhi Police for a breach and the Central Reserve Police Force reportedly saying that the leader himself broke protocol, Gandhi said the Bharat Jodo yatra is not possible in a bullet-proof car.

"The government wants me to do the Bharat Jodo yatra in a bullet-proof car. How can I do that? This is a foot march," he said.

The Congress MP also referred to the incidents where the ruling BJP government’s leaders shunned bulletproof cars, violating norms, but no action was taken and said there were different protocols for different parties.

Rahul Gandhi said the foot march represents India’s emotions and has taught him a lot.

"When I started the march, I did not have any preconceived notions. I just went to experience the journey. As days passed, I realised it was more than just a foot march and it had feelings just like a living being. It represents India’s emotions and has taught me a lot more than I imagined,” said the Congress MP while talking about the 150-day Yatra that began on September 7 from Kanyakumari.
