Bhiwani deaths: Declare VHP, Bajrang Dal as terror outfits, ban them, says IMC chief Maulana Khan

New Delhi, Feb 25, 2023: Ittihad-e-Millat Council chief Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan, while speaking on the recent murders of two Muslim men whose bodies were found in Haryana’s Bhiwani, stoked another controversy. Khan has demanded that right-wing organisations such as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal be declared terrorist organisations and be banned just like the Popular Front of India (PFI).

"The Bhiwani incident happened on February 16 but we have maintained our silence. False allegations were levelled against our children (Junaid and Nasir) and they were murdered. When meetings and mahapanchayats were held supporting the accused, then we felt that murders and mob lynchings have become common in India," the IMC chief was quoted by ANI as saying.

"The way the PFI was banned, VHP and Bajrang Dal should be declared as terror outfits and ban them," he said.

"What happened in Bhiwani sends a wrong message to the Hindu community as well. They might think if they indulged in similar acts, they would be labelled as heroes too. The administration must take note of this or else the situation will become worse in the coming days," he added.

The charred bodies of Junaid and Nasir were found in Bhiwani on February 16. The two victims were alleged to have been abducted and murdered by cow vigilantes. Their families had named five men allegedly linked to the Bajrang Dal in their complaint to the police.

The Rajasthan Police has got concrete evidence against eight accused named in the FIR registered after the abduction and murder of Junaid and Nasir, officials told PTI. However, the role of Monu Manesar, a member of Bajrang Dal, in the case is still being investigated.

According to the officials, the police in their investigation found that all the accused were doing a private operation as cow vigilantes to catch alleged cattle smugglers. In the process, they intercepted a Bolero car in which Junaid and Nasir were travelling.

The accused beat up the duo, they said, adding whether the two victims were taken to Haryana police after being beaten is still being investigated. The vehicle was seized based on the interrogation of the arrested accused Rinku Saini in the case.

The Bajrang Dal said it was wrong to file a case against its party members without proof. Haryana Police has also registered a case against 30 to 40 unnamed Rajasthan police personnel on a complaint by a woman that her pregnant daughter-in-law lost her child after she was allegedly assaulted by them during a raid to nab her son.
