Mangalore Today News Network

Bengaluru, January 13, 2025: The Cottonpet police in western Bengaluru have arrested a 30-year-old man from Bihar for assaulting three cows, a senior police officer said.

The arrested is Sheikh Nasru, who, according to the police, chopped the udders of three cows “when he was drunk”.

“He has been remanded in judicial custody. No one else is involved in the offence,” S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) said. “The cows are out of danger after receiving treatment”.

The violent act came to light on Sunday after a passerby found the cows bleeding in Old Pension Mohalla, Vinayakanagar, around 4.30 am and informed their caretaker and dairy farmer, Karna.

A case has been registered under BNS Section 325 (mischief by killing or maiming an animal). The incident also took a political turn after the BJP announced to observe ‘Black Sankranti’ if the police took no action.
