Bomb threat call made to Air India for Delhi-Kolkata flight, passengers safe

Delhi, Mar 28, 2018 : Air India’s call centre has received a bomb threat call for their AI-020 Delhi-Kolkata flight. However, it was a hoax call.

The flight which was to leave Delhi at 2:25 pm was checked and all passengers were de-boarded. The security drills are being carried out and the 228 passengers will be sent in an another aircraft to Kolkata.

On the sidelines, On the sidelines, the Narendra Modi-led government today approved the Air India disinvestment plan. The government has proposed selling of 76 per cent shares of Air India.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley had earlier favoured disinvestment of the loss-making Air India. He said the airlines market share is just around 14 percent whereas the debt burden is Rs 50,000 crore.

"Air India’s market share today is around 14 percent while the debt is Rs 50,000 crore while the government has not put in money in private carriers", Jaitley said.
