Bride Shot Dead Before Wedding

Bhopal, May 09, 2014: A man, reportedly a jilted lover, on Thursday night shot at a bride on the stage in full public view at the wedding venue in Lalghati area of Bhopal, police said.

The accused, one Anurag Singh, allegedly went up to the stage where Dr Jaishri Namdeo and Dr Rohit, the groom, were accepting wishes just before their marriage ceremony started.

He allegedly shot at Dr Namdeo from point blank range.

She was rushed to the hospital, where she was declared brought dead.

Mr Singh was caught by the people present there and handed over to the police, police said.

He told police that he took the extreme step as Dr Namdeo had allegedly cheated him, police said, adding further investigations were going on.

Confirming the incident, Superintendent of Police North Arvind Saxena said that senior police officials have reached the spot.
