New Delhi, Oct 03, 2022: Bypolls to seven vacant assembly seats spread across six states will be held on November 3, the Election Commission said. The results will be announced on November 6.

Bypolls

Bypolls will be held in Haryana’s Vidhan Sabha seat Adampur and, in two seats in Bihar (Mokama and Gopalganj), Andheri (East) of Maharashtra, Munugode of Telangana, Gola Gorakhnath of Uttar Pradesh, and Dhamnagar of Odisha.

The notification for the bypolls will be issued on October 7, the EC said. The counting of votes will take place on November 6, the poll panel said in a statement.

The last date to submit the nominations is October 14 and the last date for scrutiny of nominations is October 15. The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is today and the date before which the election will be completed is November 8, the ECI said in a statement.

The bypolls were necessitated due to a vacancy on each seat. In Bihar’s Mokama, Anant Kumar Singh of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) was disqualified in July after his conviction in a case. BJP’s Subhash Singh, who held the Gopalganj seat, passed away in August.

Gola Gokrannath and Dhamnagar constituencies fell vacant due to the deaths of their respective legislators, Shiv Sena’s Ramesh Latke and BJP’s Arvind Giri and Bishnu Sethi. Kuldeep Bishnoi and K Rajagopal Reddy resigned in Haryana and Telanagana, leading to vacancies in the Adampur and Munugode segments, respectively.
