Bengaluru, March 2, 2016: The Karnataka Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has taken over the probe into the rape case involving Alliance University Chancelor Madhukar G Angur. In addition to this, the CID will also probe 7 other cases of financial irregularities filed against him.
Angur (60) is accused of repeatedly raping his 32-year-old niece (sister’s daughter) between 2011 and 2014. He was arrested by the police after the victim and her family lodged a complaint against him last month.
However, Angur claimed that he was being framed in the case because of a property dispute with his sister’s family, who were also involved in running the private university in the city. Initially, the Anekal police had registered a case against Angur, but in view of the complexity of the cases, the CID took over the same.
