CM Siddaramaiah praises govt employees, honours 30 achievers with Sarvottama Seva award

Bengaluru, April 22, 2025: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday called government employees the bridge between the government and the people and urged them to work towards the betterment of society.

He was speaking during the State Government Employees Day observed by the State Government Employees Union and the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reform. Thirty achievers were felicitated with the Sarvottama Seva Award, 2023.

Praising the awardees, Siddaramaiah said: “Award winners have worked fearlessly, honestly and without caste or religious prejudices. This should be an inspiration to others. For the award winners, this must not make them rest on their laurels but must instead propel them to achieve further.”

Highlighting that Karnataka was a progressive state, Siddaramaiah said the state stood second in the country in GST collection.

“Some (government) workers may make mistakes but the majority are doing good work. We are proud of you. However, we cannot pat our own backs. We need to be careful as poverty, unemployment and socio-economic inequalities are still there. It’s our responsibility to get rid of all this.”

Highlighting that everyone respects those who work for the society, Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar articulated that the relationship between government servants and the government should be akin to the one between God and devotees.

Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad urged government officials to work for the upliftment of all communities, irrespective of caste and religious identities.

“Getting government employment is like a rebirth. Forget caste and religious affiliations and uphold humanity,” Rizwan added.
