COVID-19: 773 Cases reported in 24 hours, total cases Touch 5,274 in India

New Delhi, Apr 08, 2020: The Union Health Ministry on Wednesday, 8 April announced that 773 cases and 32 deaths were reported since Tuesday. The total number of cases in the country stands at 5,274, including 4,717 actives cases. The death toll stands at 149 while 410 have recovered, Yahoo reported.

The Uttar Pradesh government will partially seal off 15 districts from midnight, 12 am on Thursday, 9 April, in an effort to contain the spread of COVID-19, ANI reports. The districts that will be partially sealed include Noida, Ghaziabad, Meerut, Lucknow, Agra, Shamli and Saharanpur.

The restrictions in these districts will only be applied to those ‘hotspot areas’ that have reported high numbers of coronavirus cases.

Maharashtra on Tuesday reported 150 more COVID-19 cases, raising the total number of cases in the state to 1,018, reported ANI, quoting the state health department. One hundred of the latest cases were reported in Mumbai.
