Chandigarh, Dec 16, 2021: As a mark of respect for their slain colleague Constable Shailendra Pratap Singh, a number of CRPF jawans travelled to Rae Bareli in Uttar Pradesh on December 13, 2021, to attend the wedding of his sister Jyoti.

Constable Shailendra Pratap Singh of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) died in October 2020 in a terror attack in Kashmir’s Pulwama.

The ‘men in uniform’ arrived at the wedding on Monday as a surprise and performed all the rituals that Jyoti’s brother would have done. They blessed her, presented gifts to her and carried the veil above her as she walked to the mandap.

The presence of the CRPF jawans left everyone at the wedding emotional.

“While playing the role of brothers, the jawans tried to fill the gap of martyr Shailendra,” a senior officer said.

Shailendra Pratap Singh’s father said, “My son is no longer in this world but now we have so many sons in the form of CRPF soldiers who always stand by us in times of happiness and sorrow.”
