New Delhi, Feb 12, 2018 : Jnanapith awardee Dr Chandrashekara Kambara, a prominent Kannada novelist, poet and playwright, has been selected the president of the Central Sahitya Academi.His term will last for five years.
Dr Kambara is also a folklorist and the founder-vice-chancellor of Kannada Hampi University.
In the election process that was carried out in Delhi, Dr Kambara bagged 56 of a total of 89 votes.
Well-known Oriya writer Pratibha Rai got 29 votes and Maharashtra’s noted writer Balachandra Nemade got four votes.
Madhav Kaushik has been elected the vice-president.
