Mtoday news

Bangalore, Nov 30 : Controversial self-styled godman Nityananda’s ashram on Tuesday described as ’bogus, falsified and motivated’, the chargesheet against him and four of its members for alleged rape and unnatural sex.

Nithyananda Dhyanapeetam said the reason behind charging the five persons was "simply to trouble the spiritual organization and nothing more."

"Truth will prevail and all these five individuals will be cleared with honor and dignity in the shortest possible time," the ashram near here said in a statement.

A 430-page charge sheet, filed by CID in a court near here on November 27, named Nityananda, Nitya Bhaktananda, Nitya Sachidananda, Nitya Sadananda (rpt) Sadananda and Maa Sachidananda alias Ragini on the basis of two FIRs filed against them.

While Nityananda was charged with rape, unnatural sex, cheating, criminal intimidation and  criminal conspiracy, Nitya Bhaktananda was booked for allegedly harbouring an offender and criminal conspiracy.

Nitya Sachidananda, Nitya Sadananda and Ragini were also accused of assisting Nityananda in committing rape and unnatural sex.

According to the chargesheet, a woman devotee had deposed before the CID that she was repeatedly raped by Nityananda at his ashram in Bidadi and other parts of the country.

Tomorrow, the high court will hear his petition, seeking quashing of two FIRs against him.
Nityananda landed in a controversy after a purported video footage of him being in a compromising position with an actress was aired on local Tamil channels. He was arrested in Himachal Pradesh on April 21.
