Chennai, Jul 15, 2021: A Chennai woman died last week after she mistakenly swallowed her artificial tooth while drinking water.
As per a report, 43-year-old S Rajalakshmi of Valasaravakkam swallowed one of her three artificial teeth while she was drinking water on July 4. Rajalakshmi was taken to a hospital after she complained of dizziness and nausea, a Times of India report stated.
She was, however, discharged after doctors found nothing alarming, the report added.
The next day, she fainted and died on the way to hospital.
Police sent the body for autopsy. A case under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Code of Criminal Procedure has been registered, police said.
Police told TOI that they suspect Rajalakshmi’s artificial tooth could have become loose since it was fixed seven years ago.
Rajalakshmi is survived by her husband Suresh, 48, and their two sons.
