Vijayawada, Feb.2: The large home was owned by P Prabhakar, a prominent businessman in the city. On Friday evening, Prabhakar received the news that his nine-year-old daughter, who had been kidnapped on her way to school on Saturday, had been found dead. Her burnt body was discovered in a boiler in a factory in Guntur.
Unable to cope with the grief, Prabhakar had a heart attack and slipped into a coma. He died in hospital on Tuesday morning.
Vijayawada, Feb.2: The child’s kidnapping and murder has shocked Vijayawada and led to an angry debate about the security of its residents.
Chief Minister K Rosaiah has asked the police to set up a special investigation team to find the killers. "In light of the public anger, we are ordering a special, fast-track investigation,’’ he said to NDTV.
Two relatives of Prabhakar’s are being questioned by the police.
