Cold wave continues in Delhi; fog disrupts flights, trains

New Delhi, Jan 7, 2012 :The national capital continues to remain tightly gripped by the severe cold wave. The minimum temperature improved slightly from yesterday to 2.4 degree Celsius in Delhi, but the temperature is still five degrees below normal. What’s making matters worse is the icy-cold wind.


cold 1"Temperature during the day is likely to reach a maximum of 13 degrees Celsius and the day will be clear," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

Yesterday, the minimum temperature had gone down to 1.9 degree Celsius in Delhi - the coldest of the season.
The city has also been hit by fog today which has disrupted rail and air traffic. 16 trains have been cancelled, 11 have been rescheduled and around 70 trains are running late. Most of the affected trains are between the northern and the northern-eastern sector. 

At the Indira Gandhi International Airport, the schedule of over 30 domestic and international flights was affected due to fog. 10 flights were cancelled due to operational reasons.
