Hyderabad, Dec 29, 2021: A private college in Ranga Reddy district in Telangana has turned into a Covid-19 hotspot. At least 25 students of Sri Chaitanya College in Narsingi town have tested positive for Covid-19. Initially, one student, who had returned from Christmas vacation, showed symptoms and tested positive.
Later, 25 more students also tested positive for Covid-19. All of them have been placed in isolation. The college has been closed for sanitisation by the Narisingi municipal officials.
The results of 262 other students and staff are awaited.
On Wednesday, December 29, Telangana recorded seven new cases of the Omicron variant of the Covid-19 disease. This has taken the total number of cases in the state to 62.
