Mangaloretoday/NDTV

New Delhi, March 3: The Congress party is a commission party, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi made his pitch for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections and urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers to treat the election as a freedom struggle. Modi also took on the Gandhi family at the the concluding session of the three-day BJP National Executive on Sunday in New Delhi and said they want to rule the country without bothering about the nations interest.

Modi-BJP conclave

The BJP leader said that a strong leader like Pranab Mukherjee would have never been allowed to take charge. Modi said, "People can’t even feel if there is a government at the Centre or not. It is not in the blood of the Congress to take the country forward."

Modi also slammed the Congress-led UPA and said the government has sunk the country and the poor has no food to eat. While pointing out that the Congress has always followed family politics tradition, Modi added, "India had all the possibilities to move forward, but Congress failed completely."

While addressing the BJP conclave in the capital, there was a thindering round of applause when Modi said that India had all the possibilities to move forward but the Congress never had any intentions. The Gujarat Chief Minister also favoured Pranab Mukherjee over Manmohan Singh as the Prime Minister of the country. "Had Pranab Mukherjee been the prime minister, there would have been less destruction in the country," said Modi.

Continuing his tirade against the Prime Minister, Modi added, "They appointed a night watchman by naming Manmohan Singh as PM." Praising the BJP and focussing on 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Modi said the BJP is the only alternative for the Congress misrule. "My experience says that country has decided to throw Congress out. Whenever we got a chance to run the government, we gave something to the country. The BJP is the catalyst to take the country forward. Ridding nation of Congress is an act of patriotism itself," said Modi.

Modi, who was the flavour of the three-day session, also urged the BJP members to treat the upcoming 2014 Lok Sabha elections as a freedom struggle. "We have no right to let the nation down," said Modi.

Praising the BJP-led State governments, Narendra Modi said, "Governments across the world would study models used by BJP for growth. We have plugged the leakages in PSUs in Gujarat. I am happy that Gujarat has forced the country to talk on development. When I took over as the Chief Minister of Gujarat it had a revenue deficit of Rs 6700 crore, today Gujarat has a revenue surplus of Rs 4000 crore."

Praising party veteran Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Modi said that when Vajpayee was the prime minister, the whole world had accepted India as an upcoming super power. "When we undertook the nuclear test, we were isolated. The Congress had said, it was not to the credit of the Atal Behari Vajpayee-government but scientists. But the Vajpayee government had the courage to conduct a second round of tests two days later, and that is a testament to the character of the BJP," said Modi.
