The report of concerned agencies mentioned that the matter is sensitive and needs special attention at this juncture specially in the context of the prevailing law and order situation,” the official order of denial issued to the Congress party read.

Manipur Govt denies Permission For Rally

While the Manipur government denied permission for the Congress Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra rally in view of the violence that erupted last year, it allowed the party to hold a meeting in the state and said that that the party leaders are encouraged to come to the state.

“If Congress leaders wish to travel to the state, like previous times, they would be encouraged to do so using a chopper. But allowing a gathering for a rally is something which cannot be allowed at this time. Given the security situation in the state, the Manipur government has not allowed permission for the yatra,” a top government source said.
