New Delhi, Jan 10, 2024: The Manipur government on Wednesday denied permission to launch the Congress party’s “Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra” which was scheduled to begin at Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East district on January 14. According to sources, the state government’s decision came in view of the ongoing law and order situation in the state.
However, the Manipur government allowed the Congress party to hold a meeting in the north-eastern state, but said that it can not allow a gathering for the rally at this time because of security concerns.

As per the sources, Congress scion Rahul Gandhi wanted to flag of the Yatra from the palace grounds in the capital city of Imphal. Following this, the Congress party had sought permission a week or so ago from the state.

Manipur Govt denies Permission For Rally
While the Manipur government denied permission for the Congress Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra rally in view of the violence that erupted last year, it allowed the party to hold a meeting in the state and said that that the party leaders are encouraged to come to the state.
“If Congress leaders wish to travel to the state, like previous times, they would be encouraged to do so using a chopper. But allowing a gathering for a rally is something which cannot be allowed at this time. Given the security situation in the state, the Manipur government has not allowed permission for the yatra,” a top government source said.
