Bengaluru, April 2, 2025: Accusing the Congress of running a "Tughlaq durbar" in the state, BJP parliamentary board member and former chief minister B S Yediyurappa said on Tuesday that he would participate in the night-long protest of the BJP in Freedom Park against the Congress government’s price rise and "minority appeasement".
"Even I am participating in the night-ling protest tomorrow. The Congress government isn’t letting people live in peace. The government should withdraw this anti-people price rise," he said, while speaking to reporters.
"While the petrol and diesel rates are coming down in the country, they have increased it by Rs 3 per litre in Karnataka. Bus price, metro fares have increased. Metro prices have been hiked by 100%. The milk rate has been increased by Rs 4 in one go."
Hitting out at the factional infighting in the Congress, the former chief minister said that the Congress was more concerned about this, than peoples’ problems.
Accusing the Congress of "minority appeasement", Yediyurappa said: "Muslims have been given 4% reservation in contracts. This is a policy of minority appeasement. What was the crime of Hindus? We aren’t anti-Muslim, but the chief minister should treat everyone equally."
