Controversy in Karnataka after absconding rowdy ‘Silent Sunil’ seen on stage with BJP leaders

Bengaluru, Nov 29, 2022: A controversy has erupted in Karnataka after an absconding rowdy, Sunil Kumar, alias Silent Sunil, was seen sharing a stage with senior leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). He was seen on stage with the MP during a blood donation camp.

 

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya, BJP MP PC Mohan and BJP leader NR Ramesh were seen sharing the stage with the absconding rowdy at a blood donation event in Ramnagara. The absconding rowdy has over 15 cases against him. There is also speculation that he will contest for the BJP from Chamrajpete.

History sheeter Silent Sunil went absconding on November 23 when police officials raided his house and other locations in connection to a case. According to the crime branch, Sunil is a notorious rowdy and a history sheeter who is involved in many crimes. He is alleged to have been involved in murder, dacoity and theft.

He was accused in a case and sent to the remand room as a minor. He came out and still continued to commit crimes. In 2017, Bengaluru police invoked the Karnataka Control of Organised Crime Act against him in connection with a case.

Sunil Kumar aka ‘Silent Sunil’ was given this name by police officials since he wouldn’t speak much during interrogation or simply give one-word replies to questions.

According to crime branch chief Sharanappa, “We searched locations connected with him on November 23. Whoever we found, we brought them back to the station and gave them a warning, and we also kept surveillance on whoever wasn’t there.”

The official further said “The remaining nine people who were not at home were nabbed later. These are the main rowdy sheeters and we keep a close watch on them. Silent Sunil was also called to the station a few months ago and was given a warning.”

Meanwhile, BJP MP PC Mohan was seen on stage with Sunil claimed that he was unaware that the absconding rowdy was part of the program.
