Coronavirus: 110 positive cases in India; Maharashtra, Kerala, UP most affected

New Delhi, March 16, 2020: The total number of positive coronavirus cases in India has crossed 100-mark and as per latest data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, India has found 110 coronavirus patients till now. on Sunday, PM Modi did a video call with leaders of SAARC nations to discuss the Coronavirus outbreak and steps to control the spread of the deadly disease. Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that India made special efforts to tackle the problem while reaching out to vulnerable groups. PM Modi said India’s guiding mantra has been ‘prepare, but don’t panic’ in dealing with Coronavirus outbreak.

In total, coronavirus has so far infected 11o persons in the country, the Ministry informed. Out of the 110 cases, 17 patients are foreign nationals. Moreover, of the total tally, two persons have passed away due to the disease, with one death having occurred in Karnataka’s Kalburgi and the second one in Delhi. Nine patients have also been discharged after having been recovered.

Most of the cases in India are from Maharashtra, Kerala and Uttar Pradesh with 32, 22 and 12 positive cases respectively. The number of active cases in Haryana is 14 but all of them are foreign nationals.

Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir also have 3 and 2 positive cases, respectively. Meanwhile, there have been no reports of any positive cases from Northeast India, but the cross-border passenger trains and buses to Bangladesh have been suspended as a precautionary measure.

Moreover, 234 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Iran on Sunday and have been brought to Jaisalmer, where they will stay at the Indian Army Wellness Centre.
