New Delhi, Aug 26, 2021: India recorded 46,164 fresh Covid-19 cases and 607 deaths due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry.
As of 8 am on Thursday, India’s active caseload stood at 3,33,725. In the last 24 hours, active cases increased by 11,398.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Kerala with 31,445 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 5,031 cases, Andhra Pradesh with 1,601 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,573 cases and Karnataka with 1,224 cases.
88.55 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 68.12 per cent of the new cases.
Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (216), followed by Kerala with 215 daily deaths.
A total of 34,159 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3,17,88,440 across the country.
According to the health ministry, India’s recovery rate stood at 97.63 per cent.
On vaccination front, India administered a total of 80,40,407 doses in the last 24 hours. With this, the total tally of doses administered in the country touched 60,38,46,475.
A total of 17,87,283 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
