New Delhi, May 30: The differences between the civil society and the government members of the Lokpal Bill draft panel have come out in the open.
The two sides disagree on the prime minister coming under the purview of the Lokpal.
The activists say that the government is adamant on keeping the PM outside the purview of the Lokpal.
Arvind Kejriwal, a member of the joint drafting committee, said government’s views have become adamant.
The government though claimed that the talks were constructive.
The government is firm that even bureaucrats cannot come under the purview of the Lokpal because of the constitution, said Kejriwal.
The government and the civil society members further disagreed over the inclusion of judiciary under the Lokpal. The government was of the view that it should be self-regulatory, but the civil society members disagreed.
The civil society members made it clear that they were disappointed with the attitude of the government.
