eswarappa 1Deccan Herald has reliably learnt that the Lokayukta police, who raided Eshwarappa’s properties on Monday, stumbled upon a currency counting machine at his house in Chakravathy Layout.

Sources said Eshwarappa and his son K E Kanthesh would be called in for questioning about the machine by the Lokayukta police soon.

The police also found a notice served by the Shimoga district registrar of Stamps and Registration on Eshwarappa and his family about a land purchased by the minister in Mandli Industrial Area in Shimoga. The Registrar points out that the land value is at least 20 times higher, and has pegged the going rate at Rs 12 crore. Sources said the undervaluation of the land by Eshwarappa and his family members would be brought to the notice of the Special Lokayukta Court and further investigations would be conducted.

Complainant Vinod B had stated that Eshwarappa, his son Kanthesh and daughter-in-law R Shalini together possessed 25 properties on B H Road in Shimoga, Savalanga Road in Channappa Layout and Tavarechettanahalli.

The Lokayukta police during its search has, however, unearthed documents related to 28 properties.
