Chamarajanagar, Feb 16, 2024: A man in Karnataka recently died by suicide as he was allegedly dejected by his wife’s addiction to making Instagram reels.
The deceased has been identified as Kumar, 33, a resident of PG Palya in Chamarajanagar district. In the complaint, Kumar’s family alleged that he was depressed after his friends taunted him about some recent Instagram reels that his wife had uploaded.
A police officer said, “Kumar married Roopa 10 years ago and the couple has two daughters. He was doing odd jobs to run the family and there were domestic issues between the couple due to his drinking habit.”
Recently, his wife left him and went to her parents’ house. She had uploaded an Instagram reel wherein she, a man, and another woman could be seen dancing to a trending Kannada song.
On Wednesday, Kumar reportedly called Roopa over the phone, questioned her about the reel, and an argument ensued between the two. He died on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday.
The police have lodged a case of unnatural death based on the complaint of Kumar’s family.
