New Delhi, Jan 5: A Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in the national capital was arrested for allegedly raping a woman, police said on Saturday. The accused was produced in court and sent to two days police custody.
"Yogesh Attrey, 40, a member of the party’s Delhi Pradesh Working Committee, was arrested on Friday from Rohini in north Delhi for raping a woman," a senior police officer said.
The complainant, who lives in Vijay Vihar, told the police that Attrey had sexual relations since 2007 and threatened her with dire consequences if she disclosed their relationship, the official said.
Attrey had contested Delhi Assembly polls in 2008 from Mangolpuri constituency on a BJP ticket.

To uproot the crime wave of India against the women, first of all the government of India must legislate that criminals, especially those people involved in rape and attacks on women are not qualified to hold any political office. It is the saddest paradox that some of the legislators are stained with the record of rape, how they are ethically qualified and strong enough to create laws to protect the women’s right? | |

For a moment I was in confusion when I saw the caption of this news.i.e.,"Delhi BJP leader arrested, sent to police custody for raping" It reminded me a humerous/verdict by a king(story) wherein he ordered death sentence to one of the citizen wrongly and saved by his inteligent minister. It was like this. Kinds wordings were "Kill him,not leave him" Minister altered the lines just by replacing come(’) and making th sentence "Kill not, leave him"!!! |
