Devendra Fadnavis expands Maharashtra Cabinet with 39 Ministers

Mumbai, Dec 15, 2024: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expanded his cabinet today, over three weeks after the assembly election results were announced. A total of 39 ministers took the oath of office during a grand ceremony held in Nagpur, the Chief Minister’s constituency.

Maharashtra’s cabinet can accommodate a maximum of 43 ministers. Following today’s expansion, 42 positions are now filled, including Mr. Fadnavis and his deputies. Among the newly sworn-in ministers, 19 are from the BJP, 11 from the Shiv Sena, and 9 from the NCP.

The oath-taking ceremony at the Raj Bhavan in Nagpur was attended by Mr. Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and NCP leader Ajit Pawar.

Prominent BJP leaders sworn in include state party chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Ashish Shelar, Ganesh Naik, Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Chandrakant Patil, and Nitesh Rane.

From the Shiv Sena, leaders from Mr. Shinde’s faction, including Shambhuraj Desai, Dadaji Dagadu Bhuse, Sanjay Rathod, Uday Samant, Gulabrao Patil, and Sanjay Shirsat, took the oath.

The NCP saw the induction of leaders Aditi Tatkare, Dhananjay Munde, and Hasan Mushrif into the cabinet, further solidifying their representation.
