Didn’t cede an inch of land: Amit Shah on India-China clash at Arunachal LAC

New Delhi, Dec 13, 2022: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday said that Chinese soldiers didn’t cede an inch of land during the face-off with Indian troops in the Tawang sector of Arunachal Pradesh.

 

"Not even one inch of India’s land has been captured. Indian soldiers showed immense bravery during the skirmish and within no time gave a befitting reply to Chinese troops," the home minister said, adding that no one could capture an inch of land under the Modi government. He made the remarks while talking to reporters outside the Parliament building.

He applauded Indian soldiers for their valour. "I want to say it clearly... till the time the BJP government led by Prime Minister Modi is in power, no one can capture an inch of our land," Shah said.

’RFG RECEIVED FUNDS FROM CHINA, ZAKIR NAIR’

The senior BJP leader also fired potshots at the Congress and alleged that a huge amount of money was transferred into the bank accounts of Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RFG) by the Chinese embassy in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

In October, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) cancelled the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of RGF and Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) - two NGOs headed by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, for allegedly violating the foreign funding law. The Rajiv Gandhi Foundation is a non-government organisation associated with the Gandhi family.

"I saw the question hour list and after seeing question number 5, I understood the anxiety (of Congress). The question was regarding the cancellation of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) licence of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF)," he said.

He added, "Rajiv Gandhi Foundation got Rs 1.35 cr from the Chinese Embassy. The registration was cancelled as this was not according to FCRA rules."

"RFG had registered for social welfare but the funds of it were used in research on relations between India and China. India’s permanent seat in the UN Security Council was sacrificed because of Nehru’s love for China," Shah said.

He further mentioned that on 7 July 2011, the RGF received Rs 50 lakh rupees from Zakar Naik, a controversial Islamic preacher.
