Disappointed over police treating son’s death as suicide, UP Muslim family converts to Hinduism

Baghpat, Oct 03, 2018 : A Muslim man has embraced Hinduism along with 12 of his family members, Upset over police treating his son’s ’unnatural death’ as suicide rather than a murder.

 

According to officials, Akhtar, who is a resident of Badarakha village Badarkha village, converted to Hinduism on Monday. He also submitted an affidavit to the sub-divisional magistrate and testified to their voluntary change of religion.

The shocking decision was taken over Akhtar’s disappointment as the police were not probing his son’s alleged murder. As per reports, he took this step to ensure that the police will "properly investigate his son’s murder".

Rishirendra Kumar, the District Magistrate of Baghpat, confirmed that the entire family had changed their religion since they were not satisfied with the police investigations. As per the Yuva Hindi Vahini (Bharat) state chief Shaukendra Khokar, the family changed their religion with religious rituals, including a ’hawan’.

Further, Khokar said that Akhtar was deeply upset after his son Gulsanan was "murdered". "Gulhasan’s body, however, was hung to make it appear a suicide," he added.

Even though Gulhasan’s family protested that their boy was murdered, the police concluded his death as a case of suicide. Akhtar wanted help from the fellow members of the Muslim community, however, Khokar explained that they were "not very forthcoming and did not help them much."

"These people were not satisfied with the probe into the death of one of their family members. The matter is being examined in consultation with the superintendent of police," Baghpat DM Kumar was quoted as saying by PTI.

SP Shailesh Kumar Pandey said that he had received the information about the religion change of some members of the Muslim community and that the matter was being looked into.
