New Delhi, Nov 18, 2016: The Election Commission on Friday asked the government to stop using indelible ink being applied on the right index finger of those exchanging notes to prevent multiple cash withdrawals.
With by-polls scheduled in five states on Saturday, the election body wrote to the Finance Ministry stating that there will be confusion as indelible ink also marks citizens who have already voted.
Earlier this week, the government announced that indelible ink would be used to mark the right hand to stop repeat money exchangers thronging banks with invalid currency notes.
Details awaited.
