A circular sent out on September 12 says employees must wear "decent" clothes and laments, adding, "It has been noticed that staff of the state secretariat, particularly the newly-joined ones, come to offices wearing dress which does not bring repute to the Secretariat."

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said today that the decision was taken to instill "a sense of discipline" among employees.  "No complaints have been received so far," he said of the dress code diktat, "if any come, I will look into it."
