New Delhi, Dec 26: Chief Election Commissioner SY Quraishi on Monday said that the Team Anna will be monitored for poll expenditure in the upcoming state assembly elections.
"Monitoring will be for expenditure. Anybody who spends more then Rs 10 on a particular candidate is liable for action. If he does not do it with written permission of the candidate he is liable for action," the CEC said.
"If they say don’t support a party, They can do that. But if they say dont vote for X and vote for Y then action can be taken," he added.
When asked about the technicalities of how will CEC monitor Team Anna, He said, "Team Anna is a loose term, whosoever spends money in canvassing, has to account for it. Action will be taken under IPC and fine is Rs 50."
More specifically, he said, "Anna is not even on our radar."
On poll dates of Uttrakhand, he said, "There is no difference in January 30 and February 20. Our experience says there is more snowfall in February. Hardly anything to choose from. We have time till one month to complete the process."
