Bengaluru, Feb 26, 2024: The dismembered body of a 65-year-old woman was found dumped in a drum near KR Puram area in Bengaluru on Sunday evening. According to police, the body parts were found in a vacant lot adjacent to an abandoned house.
The victim had been residing with her daughter in a rented flat near KR Puram. The accused, police said, cut the victim’s hands and legs, allegedly discarding them elsewhere before dumping the remaining body parts in a drum.
The incident came to light when locals detected a foul smell emanating from the drum and promptly reported it to the Bengaluru Police.
"The incident may have occurred yesterday. I am here with senior officers to examine the spot. An approximately 65-year-old woman was murdered, and her body has been dumped in an abandoned location," Raman Gupta, Additional Commissioner, Bengaluru Police said.
Further investigation into the matter is underway and police have launched a manhunt to nab the accused involved in the crime.
"We are actively pursuing the investigation, and we aim to apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible," Gupta said.
The victim had been living with her daughter and some relatives. Even other relatives of the family live in the vicinity.
