The farmers began their protest at the venue when they heard that BJP MP Nayab Saini from Kurukshetra and MLA Sandeep Singh were about to reach there. Heavy police presence was also seen at the event.

As per reports, Kurukshetra MP Nayab Saini and other party leaders, including state Mining Minister Mool Chand Sharma, were attending the event held at the Saini Bhawan in Naraingarh. The alleged incident happened at around 11.15am after the event concluded and the convoy of cars were exiting the area.

The injured farmer, identified as Bhavan Preet Singh, claimed in his police complaint submitted to DSP Naraiangarh that he was run over by one of the cars belonging to MP Nayab Saini’s cavalcade. The car allegedly drove into a group of farmers protesting against the Centre’s farm laws.

The complainant, according to police, has not received any serious injury. The injured farmer has reportedly been admitted to a government hospital in Naraingarh near Ambala. No FIR has been registered so far.

The protesters are demanding an FIR against the vehicle’s owner. The incident comes four days after a similar incident in Lakhimpur Kheri led to the death of eight people, including four farmers. A convoy of cars, which included one owned by Union Minister Ajay Mishra and allegedly driven by his son Ashish, rammed into a group of farmers holding a peaceful protest. The vehicles were on their way to pick up UP deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya for an event in the area.

The other four people who were killed were two BJP workers, a driver of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra and a journalist working for a private television channel.

The Lakhimpur Kheri incident triggered a major political storm with the Opposition parties accusing the BJP government in UP of shielding the culprits.
