Chennai, April 27, 2022: A fire broke out at Tower 2 of Chennai’s Rajiv Gandhi government hospital on Wednesday. According to a report by ANI, all the patients in the tower have been evacuated safely.
Rescue operations are on with fire tenders trying to douse the fire. In the beginning, fire fighters had a hard time evacuating the patients from the site due to severe smoke from the fire.
According to Tamil Nadu’s principal secretary for health, J Radhakrishnan, the fire broke out in one of the older buildings. He said the next three blocks are safe from fire. So far no reports of casualties or injuries have been reported.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
