Former naval officer Kulbhushan Yadav sentenced to hang in Pak

New Delhi, Apr 10, 2017: Former Indian naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, arrested in Pakistan last year on charges of spying, has been sentenced to death.


navy-officerThe Pakistan government had refused to extradite Kulbhushan Jadhav, who was reportedly arrested in Balochistan after entering the country from Iran.

Pakistan’s foreign affairs advisor Sartaj Aziz had alleged that he was involved in "subversive and terrorist activities in Pakistan".

In March last year, Islambad released what it claimed was a video confession of Mr Yadav and said he revealed how India engineers violence and separatism in the restive province of Balochistan.

India has acknowledged Kulbhushan Jadhav as a retired Indian Navy officer, but denied that he was in any way connected to the government.
