New Delhi, May 06: A sensational-but-unauthenticated video has surfaced that purportedly shows Tej Bahadur Yadav, who wanted to contest Lok Sabha elections from Varanasi against the prime minister, as saying that he can kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi if someone gave him Rs 50 crore.
The dismissed Border Security Force jawan’s statement has been caught on camera and the video has since gone viral. Times Now, which first broke the story, however, has stated that it cannot vouch for the authenticity of the video.
Tej Bahadur Yadav first wanted to contest as an independent candidate from Varanasi, and then was fielded by the Samajwadi Party as its candidate from the seat.
However, the Returning Officer rejected his candidature as Tej Bahadur had failed to submit a certificate on whether or not he was dismissed from the service for corruption or disloyalty to the government.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party has said that it is stunned by the statements of the Samajwadi Party candidate and has condemned the utterances.
Earlier in the day, Tej Bahadur Yadav filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court against the rejection of his nomination from Varanasi Lok Sabha constituency.
