Gopinath Munde cremated; supporters torch vehicles, demand CBI enquiry

New Delhi, June 04, 2014: Meanwhile, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has postponed the scheduled lunch of UPA constituents to June 10, in view of Union minister Gopinath Munde’s sudden demise.

mundeAs soon as Gopinath Munde was cremated, some agitated supporters went on a rampage, demanding CBI probe into union minister’s death in an accident. The supporters torched police vans, other vehicles and gheraoed Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan’s car, while he was on his way to a helipad.

Around thirty thousand people have gathered to pay last respects to late Gopinath Munde.

Police and late Gopinath Munde’s supporters clash at Parli village where rites ceremony is to be held later today. BJP leaders and late Union Minister’s daughter appeal to the supporters to stay calm.

BJP president Rajnath Singh confirms that he will attend Gopinath Munde’s funeral.
