Lahore, Apr 17, 2018 : The wedding season is finally here and so are we at the wedding venue to gorge on the delicious food, and click selfies with the bride and groom and later post it on social media with hashtags using the couple’s initials.
Of all the wedding rituals, one that I really like is ’Joote Churai’. The feeling (read: money) you get after successfully hiding the groom’s shoes is unparalleled. And I am sure I am not the only one who likes it. I mean Bollywood made a whole song out of our inner thoughts – Joote Do Paise Lo.
But, imagine that groom’s nervousness, who wore shoes made of gold at his wedding. In fact, not only shoes, his entire wedding outfit was made of gold.
Usually, at any wedding, it’s the bride who is decked up with gold jewelry. Bu in Pakistan, a groom became a trendsetter by wearing one of the most expensive and lavish outfit worth nearly Rs. 25 lakh (Pakistani rupees) for his Walima aka reception.
The man in picture is Salman Shahid, a businessman from Lahore, who reportedly wore a gold suit (63000 Pakistani rupees) with a matching tie embellished with gold crystals and gold shoes (Pakistani Rs. 17 lakh). The shoes are said to be made of 320 grams of real gold.
