New Delhi, Oct 31, 2016 : A reckless SUV driver crushed a three-year-old girl to death on Monday morning in Sohna town, 26 km from Gurgaon.
Mansi, the victim, was playing outside her house at Bharadwaj lane in ward number 19 of the town at 9 am when a speeding white SUV mowed her down.
As crowd gathered, Sanjay, the accused, panicked and tried to flee in his Mahindra Scorpio crushing the girl two more times in the process. He managed to escape on foot leaving his car behind, the police said.
A police team from a nearby outpost and Sohna police station rushed to the spot and took Mansi’s mutilated body into possession for post mortem.
Victim’s father, Krishna Kumar, a porter, told the police that the accused was driving at a very high speed.
“The father said that the accused driver crushed her thrice and ran away from the site,” said sub inspector Satyadev, in-charge of the police outpost.
Based on a complaint by the victim’s family, the police has booked Sanjay with death due to negligence (section 304 A) and rash driving (section 279) offences of Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Sanjay, son of retired teacher Bhajanlal, resides on the same lane and is missing since the incident.
“He lives in the same lane as the deceased’s family. He is on the run but we will nab his soon. We have sent a police team,” said Inspector Mukesh Yadav, station house officer, Sohna police station.
