Rohtak, Mar 2, 2025: The Haryana Police have constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the murder of Himani Narwal, a Congress worker whose body was discovered in a suitcase near a bus stand in Sampla town, Rohtak district, on Saturday. Narwal was reportedly associated with MP Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajneesh Kumar confirmed the formation of the SIT and stated that Narwal’s mobile phone had been recovered. “We are utilizing cyber and forensic science expertise in the investigation,” Kumar told reporters.
Narwal, a law student, lived alone in Haryana while her family resides in Delhi. The postmortem has been completed, but her family has yet to collect the report or the body for cremation.
“The body was found stuffed in a suitcase. She was later identified as Himani Narwal. We called her family to the spot and are investigating all possible angles. We aim to resolve the case swiftly,” Kumar said.
Narwal’s mother, Savita, expressed suspicion that political rivalries and jealousy might have led to her daughter’s murder. “The elections and the party took my daughter’s life. She made enemies, possibly within the party or among friends. She was close to the Hooda family and accompanied Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. This may have triggered jealousy,” she alleged.
The Congress party has demanded a thorough inquiry into the case, urging authorities to bring the culprits to justice.
