Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Sep 06, 2016: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be briefed about the situation in Kashmir by Home Minister Rajnath Singh after the two-day visit of an all party delegation to Jammu and Kashmir returned Monday night.

ajnath-singh ...Modi is expected to be told about the assessment of the ground situation done by the all-party delegation, which visited Srinagar and Jammu on September 4 and 5, officials sources said.

According to source, members of the all party delegation are likely to meet in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss their findings during the two-day visit and chalk out future plans for Jammu and Kashmir.

The all-party delegation, seeking to end turbulence in Kashmir, concluded its two-day visit on Monday with no breakthrough. The Hurriyat leaders in Kashmir refused talks with the delegation. However, some members of the delegation went to meet the Hurriyat leaders in their individual capacity. Rajnath Singh had said they were neither told yes nor no about the individual meeting. Singh had also stressed on the fact that Kashmir is, was, and will always be a part of India.

Singh also expressed his unhappiness at the stubborn refusal by Hurriyat leaders to meet some MPs who had literally knocked at their doors in Srinagar. He had said that their conduct was against democracy, humanity or even ‘Kashmiriyat’ (Kashmiri ethos).

“They want to show the visit of the Parliamentary delegation as a favour to us,” said the Hurriyat in response. “We have made it clear in advance that we would not be part of any drama of dialogue. The intention of the delegation was to act as firefighters to derail and fizzle out the current movement. It would be better if people like Rajnath Singh don’t give (us) lessons on humanity and democracy because there is no one in Kashmir who is not the living example of the ‘humanity and democracy’ of these cunning people”.
