New Delhi, February 1, 2014: Jashodaben has no hopes of her and Narendra Modi ever reuniting but she does hope he becomes the prime minister.

modi 1The retired school teacher, who got married to the Gujarat Chief Minister at the age of 17 but parted ways in three years, said they have never been in touch since they parted on "good terms."

"I don’t think he will ever call me," the 62-year-old told The Indian Express in an interview in Ahmedabad.

Jashodaben though said that Modi was still her husband.

"If I was not his wife, would you have come to speak to me?" she told the newspaper’s reporter.

She said she liked to read everything on Modi - from newspaper articles to TV news.

"In whatever I say, I do not want it to harm him. I just wish that he progresses in whatever he does. I know he will become PM one day!" she told the paper.

She told the paper that after their wedding, Modi was mostly busy in his work for the RSS across the country and told her to stay with her father’s house and study.

"When I came to Vadnagar to live with his family, he told me ’why did you come to your in-laws’ house when you are still so young, you must instead focus on pursuing your studies’. The decision to leave was my own and there was never any conflict between us, she told the paper.

She also said that she did not feel bad about her parting ways with Modi and in fact felt her luck had improved.

"I don’t feel bad, because I know that he is doing so due to destiny and bad times. In such situations he has to say such things and also has to lie. I don’t see my situation as being bad because I feel, in a way, my luck has improved too," she told the paper.
