Bengaluru, Sep 24, 2019: IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri, who reportedly withstood attempts at prospective misuse of funds meant for betterment of labourers, was on Friday, 20 September, transferred as the secretary of the Karnataka Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board by the state government, Deccan Herald reported.
The 35-year-old’s transfer came even before she could complete her two-year tenure, and at a time when the Board was preparing to launch mobile creches for kids of construction workers at several locations in Bengaluru, the report said.
Sindhuri, who is said to have been working towards streamlining the Board’s expenditure, has not been given a new posting yet.
A senior IAS officer privy to the development told the publication that Sindhuri was being pressurised to utilise the funds meant for labour upliftment, for pilfering. She was also reportedly asked to divert a chunk of the Board’s funds towards flood relief.
Worried over possible misuse of money given to flood relief, Sindhuri had internally argued that there were clear guidelines on how the cess money should be spent, the report said.
Sindhuri, a 2009 batch IAS officer, was earlier posted to Hassan on 14 July 2017.

When I read this news I was enraged. Hers is an upright officer who is trying to serve the public and we the people have to get involved. Earlier in Hassan, she faced a similar situation and she won her case in the court. This time, she may not be able to go to the court. It is we the people should get involved and support her. We should write to PM Modi and ask him to look into her transfer. If millions write he would be forced to take action. Can we start the letter writing and petition drive? Let us not keep quiet thinking others will pour milk like in Tennali Ram’s story. |
