Illegal house of Bhopal school bus driver, who raped nursery student, demolished

Bhopal, Sep 14, 2022: Authorities in Bhopal have demolished the illegal house of a school bus driver in the Shahpura area after he was arrested for allegedly raping a three-and-half-year-old nursery student of a private school inside the bus.

 

The accused driver had allegedly encroached upon the garden area near Vasant Kunj Colony in the Shahpura area and constructed the illegal property. The house was vacated ahead of the demolition.

The decision to demolish the house was taken jointly by the revenue staff, police and the municipal corporation.

Collector Avinash Lavania has also directed women staff to be deployed on buses that carry girl students and made CCTV cameras mandatory.

He has also said that school management has to be responsible for the safety of students and in case of negligence, legal action would be taken.

The nursery school student was allegedly raped by the driver inside the bus in the presence of a woman helper who also tried to cover up the crime. Both the accused were arrested.

The incident came to light when the student’s mother saw marks on her body and asked her what happened. Once the survivor told her mother about the incident, the family approached the school management and informed the police.
