New Death, July 20, 2022: India recorded 20,557 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, 32.4 per cent higher than the previous day. The total number of cases stood at 4,38,03,619, according to the Union Health Ministry data.
The death toll climbed to 5,28,388 with 2,603 new fatalities reported in the country during this period.
As per the data, the country’s active caseload stood at 1,43,091. In the last 24 hours, active cases declined by 563.
The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Maharashtra with 2,279 cases, followed by West Bengal with 2,243 cases, Tamil Nadu with 2,142 cases, Punjab with 1,941 cases and Kerala with 1,857 cases.
50.89 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 11.09 per cent of the new cases.
Meanwhile, India’s recovery rate stood at 98.47 per cent. A total of 18,517 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, bringing the total recoveries to 4,31,32,140 across the country.
India administered a total of 26,04,797 doses in the last 24 hours, bringing the total tally of doses administered to 2,00,61,24,684.
Furthermore, a total of 4,98,034 samples were tested during this period.
