New Delhi, Jan 05, 2022: India recorded 58,097 fresh Covid-19 cases and 534 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare early Wednesday.
Daily cases reported on Wednesday were 55.4 per cent higher than that reported on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the daily positivity rate in the country has touched 4.18 per cent.
With over 58,000 new Covid cases, the overall caseload in the country has mounted to 3,50,18,358, while the nationwide toll has been pushed to 4,82,551.
The top five states which have registered the maximum number of Covid cases are Maharashtra with 18,466 cases, followed by West Bengal with 9,073 cases, Delhi with 5,481 cases, Kerala with 3,640 cases and Tamil Nadu with 2,731 cases.As many as 67.8 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone responsible for 31.78% of the new cases.
Also, the maximum casualties were reported in Kerala (453), followed by Maharashtra with 20 daily deaths.
So far, a total of 3,43,21,803 people have recovered from the Covid-19 infection across the country, with 15,389 more patients recovering in the last 24 hours. With this, India’s recovery rate now stands at 98.01 per cent.
Meanwhile, India’s active caseload surged to 2,14,004, according to the Union health ministry’s data.India has administered a total of 96,43.238 doses in the last 24 hours. As many as 1,47,72,08,846 doses have been administered in the country so far.
