New Delhi, Aug 24, 2021: India registered 25,467 fresh Covid-19 cases and 354 deaths due to the infection in the last 24 hours, Union Health Ministry data showed on Tuesday. On Monday, India reported 25,072 new cases, the lowest in 160 days.
Kerala continued to account for the bulk of Covid-19 cases, registering 13,383 infections. Kerala is followed by Maharashtra with 3,643 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,604 cases, Karnataka with 1,151 cases and Andhra Pradesh with 1,002 cases.
The five states account for 81.6 per cent of the new cases. Kerala is alone responsible for 52.55 per cent of the new cases.
Maximum casualties were reported in Maharashtra (105), followed by Kerala with 90 deaths.
A total of 39,486 patients have recovered in the last 24 hours, taking India’s recovery rate to 97.68 per cent -- the highest since March 2020. The total recoveries in the country stand at 3,17,20,112, the data showed.
A reduction of 14,373 cases has been recorded in the total number of active Covid-19 cases in a span of 24 hours. India’s active caseload stands at 3,19,551.
India has administered a total of 63,85,298 doses in the last 24 hours, which brings the total tally of doses administered to 58,89,97,805. A total of 16,47,526 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
