India records 30,941 new Covid-19 cases, 350 deaths in 24 hours

New Delhi, Aug 31, 2021: India registered 30,941 new Covid-19 cases and 350 deaths due to the viral infection in the last 24 hours, according to the data released by the Union Health Ministry.

The top five states which have registered maximum Covid-19 cases are Kerala with 19,622 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 3,741 cases, Tamil Nadu with 1,523 cases, Mizoram with 1,157 cases and Karnataka with 973 cases.

87.31 per cent of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Kerala alone responsible for 63.42% of the new cases.

The maximum casualties due to the novel coronavirus were reported in Kerala (132), followed by Odisha with 67 daily deaths.

With this, India’s recovery rate stood at 97.53 per cent.

A total of 36,275 Covid-19 patients recovered in the last 24 hours, pushing the total recoveries to 3,19,59,680 across the country.

As of 8 am on Tuesday, India’s active caseload stood at 3,70,640. In the last 24 hours, active cases decline by 5,684, the health ministry said.

India has administered a total of 59,62,286 doses in the last 24 hours, pushing the total tally of doses administered to 64,05,28,644.

A total of 13,94,573 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
